Great experience so far. No issues.submitted by Alexander P. - |Recommended: YesBuilding is well maintained and managed. My son is living in the apartment for one year now and he has only positive things to say. He was very happy to resign the lease for another year. We can highly recommend the property.

Outdated, Constant Maintenance with a fantastic view and natural lightsubmitted by Emily H. - |Recommended: NoThe place was decent for me while I was working on the square and taking all my classes in Science Hall quick walk . It was conveniently located, overpriced, needed maintenance at least monthly though they were quick about answering to requests , and the construction for elevator renovation was deafening and annoying. My neighbor passive aggressively complained that she could hear me talk when I was outside on my balcony ... . Appearance was bad. I called it the communist building, because just look at it. Thats ok. It was my cute little communist building. Don't be fooled by the appearance of the first floor. Staff seemed to try to help, but honest I don't think they ever answered a question or helped me with any service that I couldn't find or do myself they seemed a bit aloof and all smiles but doing little work at times and I was ultimately disappointed in the fake-help vibes they were radiating. I haven't lived in another apartment building, can't say I'd be open to it after this one.
Amazing location, good times, and great neighbors.submitted by Cody M. - |Recommended: YesClose to everything, great layout and view but parking is horrible.
Pretty goodsubmitted by Qiaoyuan L. - |Recommended: YesThe neighborhood is quite pleasant, and it is within walking distance to the campus. Staff here are very friendly and helpful.
An okay place to livesubmitted by Jonathan H. - |Recommended: YesIt's not great but it's not terrible. The noise was the worst thing
Nice locationsubmitted by Cheng-Yen K. - |Recommended: YesNice location, but noisy
Calm, Cool, Enough for two people. submitted by Cherokee M. - |Recommended: YesIts okay. Its expensive for a studio.
Fix the elevatorssubmitted by Buck J. - |Recommended: NoFix the elevators...
response from property -We are in 2018!!!
Good, but has much room for improvementsubmitted by Jeremy Z. - |Recommended: YesIt has the bare essentials you need to get by, but the staff have done a horrible job of maintaining there apartments. For example, the ac unit isn't installed properly in my apartment and as a result there is a small hole in the wall that goes all the way to the outside world.
Just What I Needed submitted by Michael P. - |Recommended: YesI wanted to find a quiet place to live alone, and Henry Gilman was perfect Most times I felt like the only one in the building in terms of noise. Also, the staff was extremely friendly and helpful throughout my leasing process and my stay at Henry Gilman. The new online portal is great, and the common areas are nice. My only complaint, the printer rarely has paper or ink.
Nothing special, but can't go wrong living here. submitted by Benjamin M. - |Recommended: YesA bit loud, but the contemporary renovated rooms are pretty nice. I've been happy living here.
response from property -Thank you for the feedback, Benjamin!
I have really enjoyed living at 501 N. Henry Street and the surrounding location submitted by Brooke W. - |Recommended: YesYou can trust that if there is a maintenance issue that things will be cared for promptly.
response from property -Thank you, Brooke!
Not worth what you pay forsubmitted by Marissa F. - |Recommended: NoThe dryer's don't work so you always have wet clothes even after contacting Steve Brown Apartments multiple times about it, the parking costs the same for a surface lot as it would a nice ramp elsewhere, there is a building right next door who's fire alarm goes off every Thursday night at 11 30pm or 12 30am depending on daylight savings so if you live close to the ground level it always wakes you, the stairwell has a leak so when it rains it gets wet, the stairwell smells like weed almost 90 of the time, and the apartment has electric heat which is just downright expensive. It may sound nice to have a rent that's only 795 in Madison, but after all of the added costs it's about 1000. You might as well live in a nice place for that much rather than this one.
It's awesome submitted by Bee C. - |Recommended: YesIt's quiet and has a huge community room.
